The Gateway at Lake Martin, Alexander City, AL is a Publix anchored shopping center with co-tenants including Marshall’s, Five Below, Rack Room Shoes, Starbucks, Barberitos etc. This grocery anchored power center project is several years in the making, with the initial contract being executed in 2018. Leveraging the success of the master planned development by Russell Lands at Lake Martin, this retail project is a large regional draw in central Alabama, attracting full time and seasonal customers around Lake Martin. Lake Martin is one of the largest man made lake in the United States, conveniently located between Birmingham and Auburn, Alabama. Due to the development challenges the project encountered including, excessive rock blasting, wetland mitigation, stream impact, off-site roadway improvements, etc., a public-private partnership was created to execute the project. The project successfully opened in November 2024.
